A simple explanation of report recency, changes and application review.

What is the current-through date?

A report may show the date through which its underlying information is current. This is different from the day you download or email a PDF.

Different jurisdictions, different rules

Colorado, California, Illinois and Maryland have 30-day conditions for qualifying reusable reports. Rhode Island’s specified applicant-provided screening document rule uses a 90-day period.

What if something changes?

Some state laws allow a landlord to request a statement that material report details have not changed. Provide accurate updates, and use the reporting agency’s correction process for inaccuracies.

Check both report and state rule

A report can be recent yet still lack required content or come from the wrong source. Freshness is one part of qualification, not a guarantee.
