What changed in Colorado’s screening portability rules at the start of 2026.

Expanded delivery flexibility

Colorado HB25-1236 removed a provision allowing landlords to demand that the report be delivered directly by a consumer reporting agency or qualifying third-party website.

An important housing-subsidy provision

A qualifying portable screening report for an applicant using a housing subsidy does not need to include specified credit-related information under the 2026 amendment.

Core requirements continue

Landlords covered by the law can require a report completed within 30 days, free to access, and an applicant material-change statement. The statutory definition of a qualifying report still applies.

Check the statute

Read Colorado §§ 38-12-902 and 38-12-904 and HB25-1236, including its exception conditions, before making a decision about a particular application.

Legal information notice
